Cărămidariu Bunu SCA secured a favourable ruling in an administrative and tax dispute concerning suspension of an ANAF tax assessment and related tax acts totalling approximately RON 3.3 million (approximately EUR 650,000), representing additional VAT for 2019–2025.
The case concerns a company operating in Romania's dietary supplements market, a major player in the sector and Romanian representative of established manufacturers in the United States and Europe.
On 16 March 2026, the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal dismissed the tax authority's appeal on points of law against the Sibiu Tribunal's judgment of 30 January 2026 granting our suspension application. The first-instance court found the statutory conditions met: a manifest appearance of unlawfulness and the need to prevent imminent damage. These rulings are a significant procedural success, suspending the contested tax acts and temporarily removing the risk of enforcing substantial tax liabilities until the annulment proceedings are finally resolved.
The client was assisted and represented by Dr Dan-Adrian Cărămidariu and Dr Alexandra Bob, from the tax and administrative litigation practice at Cărămidariu Bunu SCA.
