Dr Dan-Adrian Cărămidariu attended the eighth TIMTED 2025 international conference, “Current Economic Trends in Emerging and Developing Countries”, organised by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the West University of Timișoara with the East European Center for Research in Economics and Business, in Timișoara on 22–24 May 2025.
He presented “Reinventing the Transparency Paradigm: Consumer Protection in the Age of Digital Platforms and Behavioral Economics”, examining how digital technologies and behavioural economics transform relationships between businesses and consumers.
The presentation stressed the need to redefine contractual transparency in the digital environment, where information is abundant but increasingly difficult to understand. Beyond formal disclosure, consumer protection requires substantive transparency that accounts for how platform design and algorithms influence economic decisions.
He proposed an interdisciplinary view of transparency at the intersection of consumer law, digital technology and behavioural economics, highlighting the need to adapt the legal framework to online contracting and digital platforms.
